The game client cost is US $49.98 and this comes with a month of gametime. Residents of the European Union will be charged +VAT 19%
The monthly subscription to access the game servers and receive the latest updates to the game costs US $14.99.
EU residents add +19% VAT to this price.
There is a 3 month subscription option for US $40.47 (a 10% discount) and a 6 month subscription option for US $76.45 (15% discount). EU residents add +19% to these prices.
Payment methods include Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express ) Carte Bleue, JCB and PayPal.

Well, to be honest i only did a fast overview of the first page on this forum, and didnt find a post about whats closest to my heart right now, so here goes.
I was watching the racial alliance chat, and i noticed that ALOT of people talks about people quitting DF, for various resons.
(carebear reasons not taken into account or to be commented about in this post.)
just to get it out of the way, im amazed with darkfall so faar, the immersiveness, and the general feel of the game does NOT seem like a game that has been out for a mere 3 months, and the years the DEV’s has put into the game can DEFINITELY be felt. Also i would like to point out that DF is the best MMORPG i’ve ever played.
so my question, and worry, is, is the game to hard for the generality as in do people quit because they find it to hard? i wont belive that. look at how EVE has grown. and that game has a similar, yet, steeper learning curve then this game… Also similar in the sense that if you die.. You really are Phucked if your carrying alot of loot.
Also, take into account that (this based on conversations ive made with ingame mates and own observations) AV has not really begun to advertise the game yet. Nor have they made it easy for the common newb to find the Shop (as in its not even linked on the DF homepage) this is something (correct me if im wrong here.) i think AV has done on purpose. To ease the players into the game, and make adjustments as the population slowly rises. This way, they can keep up with the growth, and keep up the GM services and bugfixes, etcetera.
If this is a tactic it is truly a genius move on AVs part, simply look to games like Warhammer online, which i will clearly state as a former player has failed in the sense that the Servers where not powerful enough to handle the sheer amount of players that joined on day 1.
so my second question is, as i wrote above. is this a tactic from AV, with the “hidden” shop (only a google search away, but still..) and with the advertisement still to be seen, after its been officially released for 3 months?

I understand why some people feel the need to quit one reason is that we have to buy the game again for the NA server which i understand is crazy. But if you understand what goes behind the game and what AV does you would understand why they are charging again. Some are also quiting cause they dont want to wait 3 months for transfers and that things that might happen to char. Honestly why should you quit like people say this is a great game and it may seem as a scam that they are making you pay to play the game on NA server but why not? I would if you like this game bcause its a great game that offers alot, its huge! Alot of people also say this is crap but this took them years!! you may say “ya and its crap” But if you dont game design how the fuck can you speak?????? you dont know what goes on with creating a game. I mean i hope to be a game design but there is so much to learn. So i hope you all stay and play, give DarkfallOnline a chance this i believe will become a great game. You just need patience

On the American server: The American server will launch on July 7th. Characters from the European server can be cloned and moved without their possessions 3 months after the American launch. Certain restrictions and charges will apply, to be announced at a later date. In the meanwhile if you want to play on the American server at launch you need to buy the American Darkfall client. More information on the American server will be available in a few days.
Darkfall will launch a massive free expansion update the first week of July, something that the Darkfall team has been working on for a while now. This expansion includes major new features and major content, PvE, and PvP updates.
In the last few patches we had implemented several major optimizations making it possible to support even larger battles and sieges and more concurrent users than ever before. As a result, massive battles now run smoother than ever. We’ve seen some of the largest and the highest frequency of massive battles this past month, which has helped us find even more ways to optimize the Darkfall experience.
As a result of these optimizations we’ve also been able to keep sales open most of the time. We’re still being careful because Darkfall resubscription rates remain very high even though this is a time for exams and/or vacations. It’s still difficult to buy Darkfall but we hope that after the US servers have launched it will be easier for new players to learn about and to buy Darkfall.
To that effect, a new site is coming, along with new forums for Darkfall players only. These forums will be readable by the public and only players with active accounts will be able to post in them. The current public forums will remain active for anyone to post in, but moderation will be stronger. This because we’re getting people from other communities with the sole intention of disrupting our forums. The Darkfall community has always been a source of good feedback, constructive criticism, and inspiration for the Darkfall developers and we’ll keep it that way by doing away with the non-constructive elements.
Our next major patch will be included in the Darkfall expansion the first week of July.

today i will introduce to you the Cities, city building, and clan warfare in darkfall

The goal of Darkfall is its support for large-scale territorial conflict between player clans (guilds). To this end, empire building through the construction and conquering of cities/forts/castles is expected to be a major part of the game. To promote such conflict, the developers have stated that there is a finite number of geographical locations (97 locations-44 Clanstones, 53 Hamlets) within the world that are able to support city building. These potential player-built city and hamlet sites are marked in-game by structures known as clanstones.
These city-building sites are spread across the entirety of the world, and vary greatly in location, surrounding terrain, access to nearby resource nodes, and consequently, their ability to be defended by the owning clan. The developers expect certain sites, such as underground cave sites hidden by a waterfall, or a precipitous mountain-side location with a precarious one-way approach to be more highly coveted than other sites, adding to the potential for territorial conflict.
Player clans have full diplomatic control over their relationship with other player clans, and can declare war on other clans unilaterally. The “At War” diplomatic state is preceded by some unspecified amount of time in the ‘Weary’ diplomatic state after which time players of clans that are at war with each other may kill each other freely without alignment penalties. The declaration of war also allows player-built cities to be freely attacked and sieged as a prelude to complete capture or destruction of the enemy city. To this end, Darkfall contains a variety of different siege weapons such as trebuchets, catapults and ballistae, all of which are player-crafted. There is a limit on the rate of destruction of a captured city of 1 building per day, however any number of buildings may be disabled at any time by bringing their structural integrity to zero. [40]

Beta testers SHOULD NOT download or install this if they have a current beta installation or they won’t be able to access the beta. Their beta client will get upgraded via patch on launch day.
For everyone else (other than the beta testers) that plans to buy the game you should download the Torrent here:

For those who don’t know what to do with a torrent file here are some instructions:
Step1: Get a BitTorrent client. For example μTorrent http://www.utorrent.com/
Step2: After installing the BitTorrent client, click the torrent link I post below to download the torrent file.
Step3: Double-click on the torrent file to open it in your BitTorrent client program.
The size of the download is around 9GB.
As for the issue we’re having with the account management connectivity, it’s still pending but should be fixed soon. We’ll keep you posted on any developments, although we won’t turn pre-orders on tonight, seeing that it’s getting late in Europe.
